Over 900,000 people were displaced out of which nearly 80 per cent of the displaced were women and children after the start of Operation Zarb-e-Azb by the Pakistan Army in North Waziristan Agency (NWA). The IDP’s left their homes and moved to nearby areas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Punjab as well as other parts of the country.

For the Rehabilitation of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), OGDCL contributed an amount of Rs.80 million for the Prime Minister Relief Fund IDPs-2014 and in addition to this an amount of Rs.1.00 million was also donated to cope up the emergency situation for the IDPs stationed at District Karak.

In 2013, OGDCL committed Rs 50.00 million for Prime Minister Earth Quack Relief Fund of earth Quack affected people in Balochistan.


During the 2015 floods, OGDCL provided flood relief support in Ghotki and Khairpur districts including medicines and food hampers to flood affectees at a cost expenditure of Rs.2.062 million. Flood relief activities were also carried out in the area of Kot Adu, Muzaffargarh district and Garh Maharaja, District Jhang. Medicines, food hampers and portable water were supplied to flood affected.

Floods of 2014 in Pakistan have affected large areas of Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and Punjab. Around one million people have been affected by the floods, hundreds have lost their lives and tens of thousands have been deprived of their houses, properties and crops. The Government of Pakistan has launched a massive relief and rehabilitation operation and all possible assistance is being provided to the flood affectees. A Prime Minister’s Flood Relief Fund-2014 has been created to collect donations and OGDCL being Responsible Corporate at the National grief played an exemplary role and donated Rs.250 Million for this natural disaster.


OGDCL under its CSR program supported Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal project for orphan children namely the Sweet Home Project. The initiative helped them in safeguarding the basic needs of these children which included food, boarding, education, health, and other facilities. The initiative on OGDCL’S part was to help these orphan children to grow and to be nurtured in a caring environment. OGDCL will continue its support and efforts towards a better progressive society.


As a good gesture towards empowering the community, especially the needy widows of Tehsil Kabirwala District Khanewal, OGDCL distributed 348 sewing machines with a purpose to ensure sustainable development and to generate income and self-employment. 


On request from Pakistan Red Crescent, OGDCL provided 200 NFI (Non Food Items) Kits in the district of Naseerabad being a disaster prone district declared by NDMA. This kit contained family tent, blanket, tarpaulin, kitchen set, solar lamp, stove, jerry can, hygiene kit, shelter tool kit, CSI sheet & Mosquito net. The idea was to contribute significantly towards enhancing PRC resources for mitigatory interventions in Naseerabad district in event of occurrence of any disaster.
