WELL SERVICES :

To provide quality MUD Engineering , Cementation & Stimulation services, for the enhancement of E & P Activities.

FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To arrange & supply Mud Chemicals, Cement & additives to the Drilling & work over Rigs.
To prepare & implement Mud & Hydraulies programmes for drilling of OGDCL wells.
To dedign cement slurries in the Cement Laboratory and to execute the Cementation programmes
To test Mud & Mud Chemicals, in the Mud Laboratory for its suitability in Drilling Operations.
To provide Nitrogen & Coil tubing services to workover wells and at processing Plants.
Shifting of Mud between wells when feasible.
Acid Pumper for stimulation jobs at wells

HUMAN RESOURCES:

The department has a team of technically sound, highly experienced and dedicated professionals consisting of Engineers, Chemist and Technicians.
Most of the Professionals have more than 15-20 years of working experience in their professions and have undergone training in Pakistan in OGDCL and with the Multinational Companies at USA and Canada.

CEMENT & STIMULATION BASE

The Department has the following two bases.

Description

Kot Sarang (Near Talagang, Punjab)

This base caters the requirement of northern & Central region of Pakistan.

Tando Alam (Near Hyderabad, Sind)

This meets the requirement of the southern region of Pakistan.

MUD PLANT:

Mud division of Well Services Department has recently established a Mud Plant of about 1500 bbls storage capacity at Tando Alam Oil Complex (Sindh Province). This plant is meant for storage and necessary treatment of the left-over mud for recycling purpose. In the current fiscal year a further enhancement of the capacity of the Mud Plant is planned so as to make the total capacity up to 3500 bbls.

Coil Tubing Unit 380 HHP, 01 No.

CUTTING BOTTLE

Cutting Bottle is an intermediate & important part of bulking equipment that is commissioned in the bulking and pumping circuit to load and shift the cement to pressure silos taking pneumatic drive from the Air compressor.

Kenthworth Cement Pump Truck

Kenworth Pumper Truck, 08 Nos; Twin Engine 500 HHP 32 BBL RMX Skid Unit Cat 3406 Engine, Allison HT750 Transmission, Triplex Oil Well Pump.

(Cement Slurry Mixer (Fore Ground)

100 BBL Cement Slurry Mixer (CSM), 03 No. having mixing ability to prepare slurry of 22.0 ppg Slurry Weight. ( In addition to that , 02 Nos 20 BBL capacity CSM are also in the possession of Cementation Division).

(Air Compressor)

09 Nos. Positive Displacement Air Compressors are available with the Cementation Divisions to cater necessary Cement Operations . These are actually reciprocating type compressors with three (03) cylinders , which can intake air from atmosphere at or below atmospheric pressure (14.7 psi-absolute) and deliver through or without cutting bottle to pressurize The Pressure Silos. The delivery pressure has a lower limit of 40 psi gauge pressure.

PROVISION OF SERVICES TO OTHER E & P COMPANIES:

Mud Division of the Well Services Department with the available manpower and expertise can offer to provide Mud Engineering Services for planning, supervision/ implementation of Mud programmes to other E & P companies in Pakistan.

The Cementation Division of the Well Services Department can offer services for planning, designing and executing cement programmes with CEMCADE software, along with pumping services for casing Cementation jobs to the other E & P companies.

The Stimulation Division of the Well Services Department can offer to provide Acid Pumping, Coil Tubing Unit & Nitrogen Pumping Services to the other E & P Companies.

The Well Services Department can offer to provide Laboratory facilities for evaluation/ testing of Mud & Cement Chemicals and designing of cement slurries on the latest Chandler consistometer & curing chamber etc.

Well Services Department can provide the services of vacuum trucks for shifting of Drilling Fluid from one location to the other to recycle the mud. It can also dispose off the mud to solve environmental problem.

Well Services Department with all the available resources i.e. manpower and equipment can offer the above-mentioned services at a very competitive price to the other E & P Companies operating in the country to hire the services from OGDCL.

PERFORMANCE OF THE YR 2004

Well Services Department remained intensely engaged in the provision of Mud Engineering, Cementation and Stimulation services at various drilling and work-over wells and production fields during the year 2004. In this regard, Mud Division of the department provided mud chemicals and mud engineering services at 16 drilling and 16 work-over wells. Cementation division carried out 143 casing cementation jobs. Stimulation Division conducted 17 Nitrogen Kick off jobs, 3 nitrified acid jobs, 5 bull heading jobs, 30 purging and testing jobs and 8 specialized jobs at various OGDCL fields.

Well Services Department continues to play its role for OGDCL’s enhanced exploration and production activities.
